Alison mac cormaic
Originally from Scotland, I now live near Loughrea in County Galway, Ireland. I work in mosaic and as a teaching artist.
My art work is inspired from objects, nature and the figure. I usually begin by drawing from life and use colour combinations that sing. An MA in Material Culture and Design History has brought a new dimension to my work and I am also interested in the relationship and emotional connections to the objects in our lives.
I also work as an arts educator in schools and community settings and am a qualified teacher. I have completed various public art commissions, including mosaics and wall murals.
Member of Visual Artists Ireland (VAI), the British Association for Modern Mosaic (BAMM) and Glass Society of Ireland (GSOI).
